Program

Awards

The conference program included 122 projects: 60 oral presentations, and 62 poster presentations. Project abstracts were evaluated using a two-phase process (abstract evaluation and poster and oral presentation evaluation). The judging committee was so impressed with the quality of the work that we have decided to give five awards (instead of 3 as initially announced) in each category. The winners are:

The best five in the oral presentation category are, not in any particular order:

  • GoTour : A Mobile Tourist Guide For Trip Planning by Hebah Al-Moaiqel, Haifa Al-Ajlan, Khawlah Al-Rayes, Khawlah Al-Salem, Nora Al-Fantoukh and Aise Zulal Sevkli (King Saud University, KSA)
  • Mobile-Based Interpreter of Arterial Blood Gas Results Using Computational Intelligence Decision Support by Ahmad Al-Taee, Suhail Abood, Hussien Hassani, Ayman Zayed and Majid Al-Taee (University of Jordan, Jordan)
  • Virtual Mouse - Human Eye Controlled Assistive Mouse Movements Sultan Alsharif, Harish Bhaskar and Youssef Iraqi (Khalifa University, UAE)
  • Online Text-Independent Arabic Writer Recognition by Adam Aboudan, Lara Kanbar and Hasnaa Rabbat (American University of Sharjah, UAE)
  • Multi-purpose Speech Recognition and Speech Synthesis System by Hussein Mohsen, Karim Jahed and Marwan Fawaz (Lebanese American University, Lebanon)

  • iPhone Forensics vs. other Smart phones Forensics Techniques and Crime Investigations by Alya Yousif, Hessa Humaid and Huwida Said (Zayed University, Dubai Campus, UAE)
  • Assistive Technology for People with Hearing/Speaking Disabilities by Sara Qaffaf, Rouda Al-Kuwari, Ohood Al-Amoudi, Nada Aloraidi, Heba Dawoud and Muneera Al-Marri (Qatar University, Qatar)
  • Design and Development of the CheerUp BlackBerry Application by Abeer AbdulWahed, Ameena Hassen, and Mariam Sari (Zayed University, Abu Dhabi campus, UAE)
