Parentheses
Another way you can control how the computer searches is to use parentheses or brackets ( ). Here is an example of using parentheses when you are searching:
(UAE OR United Arab Emirates) AND education
Notice that there are two Boolean operators in the above search string (AND and OR).

Rule of thumb for using parentheses:
If there is an AND & an OR together in the same search string, you must put brackets around the words connected by OR. |
Other examples:
(women OR female) AND journalists
(girls OR boys) AND mathematics AND learning
environment AND (UAE OR Gulf)
Using parentheses like this when you are searching in a computer database or on the internet is often referred to as nesting.
