Mr. Chris Moyer’s presentation will focus on the increasing role of Information Technology in the rapidly changing business climate of today. Analogies from Thomas Friedman’s book “The World is Flat” will be used to explore the reality wherein all organisations are being forced to compete on a more global scale and must adjust to new entrants in their market sector.

The role of the Information Technology leader is shifting towards closing the productivity gap between the world regions. However, this is not the only challenge they need to address at the moment. Businesses and governments are also dealing with an explosion of data and loss of knowledge as experienced staff retire. At the same time there are growing security concerns that demand their attention.

EDS believes that there are certain fundamental trends, with which the industry will continue to struggle. These include ongoing globalisation, increasing activity at the edge of networks, globally shifting operations and dominating ecosystems. Mr. Moyer will reveal the strategies EDS has developed to address these challenges.

About Chris Moyer

Chris has a wide range of experiences having worked in the IT industry for over 25 years. Chris is one of 28 EDS Fellows, a position recognising his continuous delivery of innovation and leadership of thought. He has been involved in designing, building and deploying large complex information technology solutions for EDS clients, such as the UK Inland Revenue, US Department of Defence and General Motors.
