Mona Al Marri

Managing Director of the Dubai Press Club

As the Managing Director of the Dubai Press Club, Mona Al Marri has opened the doors to other young UAE women to play an active role in the media and public relations sectors. Mona began her career in 1997 when she became the Media and Public Relations Manager of the first Dubai Shopping Festival. Her role in the success of the festival led to her appointment in 1998 to be the Project Manager of the Dubai Summer Surprises event.

After training in 1999 at the Washington Press Club, she returned to the UAE where she assumed the position of Managing Director of the Dubai Press Club. The aim of the Dubai Press Club is to foster interaction among journalists and media professionals from around the world, to promote exchange of ideas between the newsmakers and the news communicators, and to create a world-class facility that fosters pursuit of journalistic excellence.

The Dubai Press Club launched the Arab world's first journalism awards, the Arab Journalism Award, which recognize and stimulate the pursuit of journalistic excellence in Arabic media. The Dubai Press Club is now a thriving forum for exchange of ideas. It is an integral part of the media industry in the Middle East and is contributing to the emergence of Dubai as a worldwide information and media hub.
