Zayed University students promote social responsibility

A group of female students from Zayed University visited cancer patients battling chronic diseases at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Hospital (SKMC) recently in Abu Dhabi.
The initiative came as part of Zayed University’s corporate social responsibility and in efforts to put a smile on children’s faces and spread positive messages amongst desperate parents.
Dana Al Zaabi, Fakhera Al Khouri and Aisha Al Ketbi, sophomore students at the College of Business in Abu Dhabi campus, wanted to accompany children with cancer in their journey to recovery.
“Cancer affects your life dramatically and changes the lives of those around you. Therefore, we have launched our toy-drive for children with cancer with an aim to understand their feelings, learn more about their struggle in order to help find ways to cope with the barriers that come along,” Dana said.
To recognize that a smile knows no religion or politics and that spreading happiness is to be a daily routine, a group of Zayed University students from Dubai campus also visited Latifa Hospital to draw smiles on children’s faces.
Coinciding the World Smile Day, 22 female students from several clubs at Zayed University launched several activities that ranged from frame design to paintings and gifts distribution in an attempt to spread positive messages and serve their community.
The Happiness Club, Health Club, Japanese Club and Psychology Club took part in the one-day event, which was held recently in Dubai.
Asma Ahmed, President of Happiness Club, said: “Every child should be entitled to a genuine happiness. Therefore, our initiative came to spread a little kindness and encourage people to smile and be positive.”
