Bio
Dr. Rwan El-Khatib is a Professor of Finance who joined Zayed University in August 2012 after completing her doctoral degree in Finance from the University of Arkansas. Prior to her doctoral work, she was a finance and investment officer for the Arabic Islamic International Bank in Jordan. She is also a Certified Financial Manager, Certified Management Accountant and Fellow of The Higher Education Association (FHEA) . Dr. El-Khatib has demonstrated a significant research pipeline, particularly her research paper (CEO Network Centrality and Merger Performance) co-authored with Kathy Fogel and Tomas Jandik has been published in the Journal of Financial Economics. Her research has been published in top-tiered journals such as the Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, The Financial Review, The International Review of Economics & Finance, and The Quarterly Journal of Finance. Dr. El-Khatib’s research has attracted lots of media mentions including The Dow Jones MarketWatch, Risk Management Magazine, Chief Executive Magazine, Arkansas Business, and she has been featured by the Walton Alumni Magazine. In addition, Dr. El-Khatib has received the Provost’s Research Fellowship Award (2015) at Zayed University for her work on Islamic Finance and held the position of Al Dhaheri Endowed Chair in Islamic Finance from 2016-2020.

Her main research interests are in empirical corporate finance (corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, shareholder activism), social networks, and Islamic Finance.
