The Undergraduate Research Scholars Program (ZU-URSP) provides ZU students with the research training, scholarly opportunities and experiences to be successful in research careers and future graduate education.
This program started with a pilot in August 2010, with a first cohort of 18 high performing undergradute students.
The first phase of ZU-URSP for each cohort is a two-week summer research institute where students will:
- Learn about quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
- Learn how to develop a research proposal
- Learn about graduate school expectations
- Learn about graduate school life
- Qualify for employment as a Research Assistant for faculty-led research projects
In the second phase of the program, students will have access to a number of activities and mentorship opportunities which will develop their professional research skills, culminating in the development of their own research proposal.
Students will have the opportunity to present their research findings at a national or international level conference and, where appropriate, will be encouraged to publish their work. Students may also be employed as a Research Assistant on a faculty-led research project.
