Information comes to us in many ways.... the internet, television, newspapers, magazines, books and people.
For information we use everyday (and don't need to keep) we can rely on what we see and hear.
For academic research, however, we need more reliable information!

Popular magazines and scholarly journals
The word periodical simply means a publication that is issued frequently, usually at a regular time period (e.g. daily, weekly, monthly) and is intended to be published forever. Some types of periodicals that you would recognize are magazines, newspapers and perhaps scholarly journals.
The library subscribes to (i.e. buys) thousands of these types of publications, both in print and online.
For academic research however, you will need to use Scholarly Journals rather thanPopular Magazines...
