Why is it important to brainstorm? Because when you do a search and you find nothing, or not very much information, you can go back to your brainstormed list of keywords and substitute another keyword from the list and maybe the new keyword will find you more or better information. It works the same way when you find too much information. The brainstormed list of keywords will offer you more specific terms you can try. Doing this substitution is crucial to being a good researcher. Doing the brainstorming ahead of time helps you to remain flexible and adaptable while you are searching.
