Undergraduate ResearchPlanning, conducting, and completing significant research projects inspires undergraduate students and enlivens the undergraduate experience. Zayed University is committed to developing the research capacity of our undergraduate students to meet one of the highlights of the UAE Government Strategy 2009, which aims for the, “successful graduation of qualified nationals who are able to effectively compete for opportunities within the UAE job market." Undergraduate students are encouraged to play an active role in the university's research portfolio. ZU undergraduate students complete research projects as part of their graduation requirements. They may attend a series of research training workshops to further develop their skills. Students also have the opportunity to be mentored by experienced Faculty conducting meaningful research projects and to work as paid Research Assistants on faculty projects. As a result, many ZU students have produced world class research and received invitations to present at international academic conferences. An exciting new program, launched in June 2010, is the ZU Undergraduate Research Scholars Program (ZU-URSP). These activities raise the research capacity of our students so they may contribute effectively to current and future research endeavors, and ultimately conduct their own independent research. |
