Origins

The four-leaf clover bracelet was an idea of Luca Caprai and was designed to communicate Cruciani to a young and increasingly well informed and demanding public. Lace may seem distant from modern day tastes but it in fact encapsulates many elements of our culture and traditions. The bracelets are made of macramé lace produced by Arnaldo Caprai Gruppo Tessile and therefore 100% made-in-Italy. They have become must-have items, icons of the brand’s philosophy and vitality.

The line now includes the famous and fast-selling “four-leaf clover” (in a press release a few days ago the Company announced its decision to suspend production to prevent inflation and imitations), the new “hearts”, the “Ponte Milvio” (dedicated to declarations of love on Rome’s famous bridge) and the “dragons” celebrating the Chinese year that’s just started.

The Cruciani four-leaf clover bracelet phenomenon exploded in August 2011, when there were endless queues at the Cruciani boutique in Forte dei Marmi, day and night, to get the summer bracelet in one or more colours.

This boom rapidly spread throughout the whole of the country and beyond (Europe, America and Japan). At the Vogue Fashion Night Out, the bracelets made their official debut in Milan as well, where success was immediately assured by a limited edition of the coveted bracelet specially produced for the Milan Fashion Week.

Reflecting the heritage and experience of Arnaldo Caprai’s lace company, so proudly treasured by Cruciani, these bracelets encapsulate the values and craftsmanship of “made in Cruciani”. They are unique, in fact, because of their value and are easily distinguishable from the increasingly frequent imitations: each bracelet now has seven macramé lace four leaf clovers flanked by the letter C. And each bracelet is sold with a Cruciani guarantee certificate, which also carries a thoughtful message of good wishes. They are sold in Cruciani’s single-brand boutiques in Milan and Forte dei Marmi, and will soon be appearing in other top boutiques as well.

Special Projects: Cruciani for Fukushima

The first export market for the Cruciani Collections was Japan, where they rapidly acquired top brand status, transforming a high quality product into a trend visible to all.

“Cruciani for Fukushima” is a charity project in favour of fishermen in the city devastated by the earthquake on 11th March 2011. By virtue of the famous bracelet, Cruciani has been able to donate 10 million yen to the Japanese government to buy a fishing boat, a concrete form of aid for the local population’s subsistence.

100% of the proceeds from the first 10,000 bracelets sold (a sum that the Company is in any case guaranteeing) was earmarked for this purpose, as certified and posted on the websites of Cruciani and all the partners involved in the initiative. The project was designed for a commercial platform of four points of sale offering a “limited edition” of the celebrated lace bracelet and enjoyed media support from six dailies and a national TV network.

The “Cruciani for Fukushima” bracelet features six white four-leaf clovers joined at the centre by a red heart.
