[ Program ]
  • Zayed University’s Executive Management Certificate (EMC) prepares experienced managers for senior leadership positions in their organizations.

  • The program consists of a series of six intensive seminars covering the functional areas of modern management, offered by the College of Business Sciences, Zayed University, and the Yale School of Management.

  • The EMC program seminars are designed for individuals who, because of their current responsibilities, are unable to take extended time away from work to undertake long term executive education.

  • Three seminars are conducted in the UAE and are presented by Zayed University’s international business faculty.

  • The last three workshops are offered by the Yale School of Management at the campus of Yale University in the United States.

  • Upon successful completion of all six seminars, participants will receive an Executive Management Certificate from Zayed University and a certificate of participation from the Yale School of Management.

Zayed University Seminars in the United Arab Emirates
  • Orientation: Tuesday, April 26
  • Seminar 1: Wednesday through Friday—April 27, 28 and 29
  • Seminar 2: Wednesday through Friday—May 4, 5, and 6
  • Seminar 3: Wednesday through Friday—May 18, 19 and 20

Yale School of Management Seminars in the United States

  • Seminars 4–6: May 29 through June 12 (two weeks)

[ Course Descriptions ]

  • EMC 710 Accounting: Tools for Assessing Financial Performance
    Designed to improve decision making by managers using accounting information. Considers accounting language and accounting concepts, types of information provided by accounting systems, and proper uses of accounting information in decision making.

  • EMC 720 Global Managerial Economics
    Explains economic concepts used in the decision making process. Topics include scarcity, marginal analysis, and tools of optimization; demand and supply analysis and market structure; economic efficiency; and international economic issues.

  • EMC 730 Strategic Management
    Equips managers with strategic management skills in a rapidly changing global environment. Topics include developing strategic plans and converting such plans into decision making and action.

  • EMC 740 Marketing Management
    Emphasizes meeting customers needs and wants through measuring customer needs, determining which customers a business can profitably serve, deciding on the appropriate products and services to offer, and determining appropriate methods to communicate, capture, and deliver value to customers and satisfy their long-term needs better than competitors.

  • EMC 750 Leading and Managing Organizations
    Examines issues related to organizational culture, communications and strategic change. The seminar will provide a theoretical and practical approach to understanding and developing leadership skills.

  • EMC 760 Business, Government, and Globalization
    Examines the trends of globalization and rapid technology change and how these forces affect national policies, competitive strategies, and organizational structures using as examples economies as diverse as Japan, Mexico, China, Italy, and the United States. The implications of globalization and technology changes on economic integration, international trade, foreign direct investment, and portfolio capital flows are considered.

[ The Format ]

The format for delivering the joint Zayed University/Yale School of Management Executive Management Certificate is designed to minimize time away from work and family while maximizing interaction with fellow executives and distinguished international faculty. The program consists of a series of seminars spread over several weeks beginning with three seminars offered in the UAE, and concluding with three seminars at the Yale School of Management in the United States. Participants will be given reading material and seminar topic outlines in advance of the start of each seminar.
