CATEGORY DEFINITIONS

The concept of the Zayed University Noor Ali Rashid Student Documentary Photography Award Categories came directly from this award's namesake, Mr. Noor Ali Rashid. In defining the Categories, Noor Ali Award organizers strived to keep within the spirit of his wishes.

The three categories are U.A.E. Land, U.A.E. People, and U.A.E. Leaders.

U.A.E. LAND - in this category, images could include, but are not limited to, architecture old and new; desert landscapes; beachscapes; neighborhood scenes; environmental scenes; flora and fauna; anything that captures the essence of the U.A.E. Land.

U.A.E. PEOPLE - The U.A.E. is a multi-national country, therefore images of its residents from all walks of life qualify.

U.A.E. LEADERS - A significant defining element in this category is prominence. This category certainly may include government leaders and leaders from the various Ruling families in the respective Emirates. But it is not limited to those individuals. Community leaders; religious leaders; or individuals, who by virtue of their accomplishments, have achieved prominence in their respective professions or vocations.
