al-Ma'aitah Member of the Jordanian Senate

Dr.
Rowaida Al-Ma'aitah is a Senator in the Upper House of the Jordanian Parliament.
She is Vice President and Secretary General of the National Council for Family
Affairs, which is headed by Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan, and she serves
as a consultant on health and social development for Her Royal Highness Princess
Muna Al-Hussein. An expert in public health systems,
Dr. Al-Ma'aitah received her Doctorate of Public Health from Tulane University
in 1989, and completed a postgraduate fellowship in the Administration of Health
Systems also at Tulane University. In 1996, Dr. Al-Ma'aitah was presented with
the Abdul Hameed Shoman Medical Sciences Award for Young Arab Scientists, and
in 2000 she was selected as the Unique Outstanding Jordanian Woman. Her
areas of interest and research include education, health administration, public
health, quality of life and work, women's health, and community health and social
development. Dr. Al-Ma'aitah has authored a number of articles on public health,
nursing, child development and other subjects that have appeared in leading scientific
journals around the world.
